Delhi's Draft Electoral Roll Could Delete One-Third of Voters

The draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll for Delhi shows that about one‑third of the names could be removed. By 8 pm on Monday, the enumeration phase had uploaded forms for 97.47 lakh electors, roughly 67 % of the 1.45 crore entries that existed at the start of the exercise. The remaining 47.62 lakh entries will be classified as ‘uncollectible’, covering absentees, possible movers, deceased, duplicate or other cases. Delhi’s projected 33 % deletion rate would be the highest in the country, exceeding the 21.59 % highest state figure recorded in Telangana. The draft roll will be published on August 24, after which Booth Level Agents and residents can flag any errors before the final list is settled.
