Delhi Traffic Police Announce Major Diversions for BRICS Motorcade Rehearsals

· India · LiveMint, NDTV, Hindustan Times

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for September 1 warning commuters of route diversions between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM due to full-scale motorcade rehearsals for the upcoming BRICS Summit. Traffic will be restricted or halted on major central corridors including Sardar Patel Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Mathura Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, and Shanti Path. Key access points are closed: Mathura Road entry from W-Point, Lodhi Flyover, and Oberoi Flyover; C-Hexagon and India Gate routes from Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Janpath; and movement toward Feroz Shah Road, Bhagwan Das Road, and Copernicus Marg from Mandi House. The Dhaula Kuan Flyover is blocked toward Sardar Patel Marg, and Moti Bagh Flyover traffic cannot enter Shanti Path. Commuters heading to airport terminals T1, T2, and T3 are advised to use alternate routes via NH-48, UER II, and Ring Road, with the Delhi Metro strongly recommended during the advisory window.

Why it matters

Millions of daily commuters, airport travellers, and railway station users across New Delhi will face heavily regulated traffic for four hours, requiring advance planning or Metro use to avoid being stranded on key corridors during the BRICS summit preparations.
