The first phase of Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections recorded a 36% voter turnout, with evening voting underway for students attending classes later in the day. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated ABVP has fielded candidates for all four central panel posts, including Yash Dabas for president, while NSUI and the AISA-SFI alliance also contest fiercely. Last year, ABVP secured three of the four central posts, including the presidency, but this year’s contest is intense, with NSUI and AISA-SFI vying for dominance. The 2025 elections saw ABVP’s Aryan Maan win the presidency with 28,841 votes, while NSUI’s Rahul Jhansla secured the vice-presidency with 29,339 votes. The turnout this year is slightly lower than the 39.45% recorded in 2024 across most colleges, reflecting either reduced student engagement or logistical challenges in polling.
