Having spent more than 260 days at sea since departing San Diego, California, in November, the aircraft carrier has been involved in military operations against Venezuela and the US-Israel war on Iran. Reports have emerged of crew members attempting to jump overboard amid shortages of food and other supplies. US Representative Pat Ryan published a letter signed by 22 members of Congress addressing acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao, pointing to a troubling pattern of lengthy deployments in the war against Iran. A separate delegation of California lawmakers and a group of Democratic senators have also demanded accountability from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
