DGCA Bars MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 Powerbank on All Flights Following Fire Incident
· India · Times of India, NDTV
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has barred the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 powerbank from being carried on passenger and cargo flights to, from, and within India. The regulatory action follows a recent fire incident involving the specific powerbank model on an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai, which was diverted to Hyderabad on Sunday. DGCA chief Vir Vikram Yadav issued an order advising the traveling public and airlines to ensure the device is neither carried nor transported on board aircraft. Airlines have been directed to implement measures to identify and prevent the carriage of this powerbank and to share safety advisories with passengers. Aviation authorities globally have increasingly restricted powerbank usage on aircraft due to rising fire risks associated with personal electronic devices.
Why it matters
The ban immediately affects passengers traveling on domestic and international flights in India, forcing airlines to step up baggage screening and passenger communication regarding banned electronic devices.
