Dr Reddy’s to Distribute Dengue Vaccine Qdenga in India

Dr Reddy’s Laboratories will exclusively promote and distribute Takeda’s dengue vaccine, Qdenga, in India’s private market starting in the first half of 2027. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation granted marketing authorisation for the vaccine in July 2026 for individuals aged 4 to 60 years. Clinical data shows the vaccine provides 61.2 per cent efficacy against confirmed dengue and 84.1 per cent against hospitalisation over 4.5 years. The vaccine, which has already received WHO prequalification, does not require prior screening for past dengue infections. Pricing for the Indian market is currently under negotiation.
Why it matters
The introduction of Qdenga provides a new preventive option for dengue in India, where all four virus serotypes are known to circulate.
