Dubai has entered a 10-day period of official mourning following the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the youngest brother of UAE Vice President and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The 76-year-old was a prominent figure in the emirate, having served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security. He was also a major investor and founder of ARM Holding, a firm with interests spanning real estate, banking, and health tech. Beyond his business career, he was a noted pioneer in UAE sports, founding the Al Wasl Sports Club and the Dubai International Marine Club. Flags across the emirate will fly at half-mast until October 1.
