DVAC Raids DMK Leader KN Nehru's Premises in Tamil Nadu Over Tender Irregularities

· India · NDTV, The Hindu

The Directorate Of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has conducted searches at 19 locations linked to DMK leader and former Minister KN Nehru across Chennai, Trichy, and Coimbatore. The operation follows an FIR registered in June based on communications from the Enforcement Directorate concerning alleged tender manipulation and cash-for-job scams. The Enforcement Directorate previously alleged irregularities amounting to nearly Rs 1,020 Crore within the Municipality Administration and Water Supply Department. DMK Leader MK Stalin dismissed the action as politically motivated, noting that a review plea is currently pending before the Madras High Court. Meanwhile, the TVK government defended the crackdown, stating that strict legal action will follow against anyone involved in corruption.

Why it matters

The raids directly involve a senior opposition figure in Tamil Nadu politics and a high-value corruption probe, intensifying political tensions between the ruling TVK administration and the DMK.
