ECI Simplifies SIR Notice Process for Voters

The Election Commission of India has announced that individuals receiving notices during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for unmapped entries or logical discrepancies will generally not need to attend personal hearings. Booth Level Officers will instead visit the homes of affected persons to collect necessary documents and upload them to the ECINet portal. Personal hearings will be reserved for exceptional cases and will be conducted online whenever possible. An adult family member may be authorized to attend a hearing on behalf of an elector if required. The commission also noted that a committee will review the ECINet system to ensure compliance with electoral rules.
