ED Arrests Suspended KPSC Chairman Sahukar and Member Geetha

· India · Times of India, The Hindu

The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday arrested suspended Karnataka Public Service Commission chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar and member BV Geetha in Bengaluru. The arrests followed searches at Sahukar's residence in Dollars Colony, Sanjaynagar, and the questioning of other accused individuals in the recruitment case. Investigators detained Sahukar based on a confession by Suguresh, a relative who allegedly secured unusually high marks in the examination. The agency found that Sahukar called suspended IAS officer and former KPSC examination controller Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar twice on the night of January 7, a day before the test. Both Gangwar and political activist Basavaraj Kannale are currently held in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison after courts rejected their bail pleas.

Why it matters
