· Business · Indian Express, NDTV, The Hindu
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached assets worth approximately Rs 23,100 crore across multiple cases involving the Reliance Anil Ambani Group under PMLA and FEMA, as stated on Tuesday. The latest attachment includes two chartered aircraft, six land parcels and an office in Maharashtra in the RCOM bank fraud case where Rs 247.12 crore is under investigation. In the RHFL and RCFL cases involving Rs 263.05 crore, assets seized comprise two windmills in Tamil Nadu along with bank balances, fixed deposits and investments. The probe stems from CBI FIRs in Delhi, Delhi Police, and Mumbai Police economic offences wings, with additional FEMA cases under review, while a query to Reliance Group for comment went unanswered.
Why it matters
The attachment of high-value assets including aircraft and land parcels directly impacts the financial standing of the Anil Ambani group companies, potentially affecting their ability to operate and settle debts.
