Indian equestrian riders face an international ban starting December 1 after the International Equestrian Federation suspended the Equestrian Federation of India over governance failures. The suspension stems from the failure to conduct fresh elections following the Delhi high court dissolution of the EFI executive committee in February 2026. The International Equestrian Federation cited prolonged leadership irregularities as the reason for the disciplinary action taken during its board meeting. The penalty bars Indian athletes, officials, trainers, and horses from participating in international competitions under any flag. The suspension will remain indefinite until elections are completed and reviewed by the global body.
