Eight Arrested for Assaulting Tourists at Pune’s Sinhagad Fort

Eight people identified as members of the Samast Hindu Bandhav Army were booked for assaulting four groups of tourists at Pune’s Sinhagad Fort on Sunday between 2 pm and 5 pm. The police say the attackers targeted visitors wearing shorts and sleeveless clothing, slapping men and striking a woman with a plastic rod. The complainant, a 39‑year‑old private‑sector senior manager, reported that a man slapped him and a woman dragged his wife. Police filed an FIR charging the accused with voluntarily causing hurt, use of dangerous weapons, unlawful assembly, rioting, and criminal intimidation. The accused names are Sanket Sanjay Patil, Ashish Dilip Apar, Revan Narayan Kokte, Sayali Sujit Chavan, Ketaki Suraj Jadhav, Amar Ramchandra Shirke, Kunal Kisan Nalawade and Arya Praveen Kawade, including three women. Pune Rural police are continuing investigations and are searching for the eight accused.
