Eight Pune Students Drown During School Picnic at Diveagar Beach

Eight students from a private coaching class in Pune drowned at Diveagar beach in Maharashtra's Raigad district during a school picnic. Police confirmed that all eight bodies have been recovered by rescue teams. The victims were part of a group of 42 students from Alandi in Pune district, comprising Class 11 and Class 12 students. Some members of the group had entered the water to swim approximately 170 kilometres from Mumbai when the incident occurred. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the safety protocols followed during the excursion.
