El Al Operates Special Flights to Repatriate Israelis from Dubai
· World · Hindustan Times, NDTV
Israeli airline El Al is launching special repatriation flights from Dubai to Tel Aviv starting Friday following the suspension of services by flydubai. The move comes after flydubai halted flights to and from Israel due to an investigation into an altercation on a Tel Aviv-bound flight that made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated the co-pilot involved in the incident had undergone radical indoctrination, while UAE authorities are investigating potential terror links. El Al is selling tickets for these special flights at a uniform price of $249, with passengers restricted to hand luggage only.
Why it matters
The suspension of major regional flight routes and the security investigation into a potential terror link disrupt travel for thousands of passengers and heighten regional tensions.
