The Election Commission has scheduled elections for 11 Rajya Sabha seats across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on October 16, alongside a by-election for one seat in West Bengal. Ten of the seats are located in Uttar Pradesh, while one is in Uttarakhand, with these vacancies arising as current terms conclude on November 25. One additional Uttar Pradesh seat became vacant following the resignation of Dinesh Sharma, who was appointed Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The West Bengal by-election follows the resignation of Rukmini Malik from her Rajya Sabha seat. Polling and the subsequent counting of votes for all these vacancies are set to take place on the same day.
