Elon Musk stated that the US military and the US president decide on speed and usage limits for Starshield, the military-grade version of Starlink. This follows reports that Ukraine experienced new speed restrictions on Tuesday night, which disrupted battlefield drone missions. Musk clarified that Starlink is intended for civilian or defensive use and cannot support offensive military actions. The restrictions were partially lifted by Wednesday evening, according to former Ukrainian defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The US government has not commented on the situation.
