EREV Powertrains Heading to Hyundai and Genesis Lineup in 2027

Hyundai Motor Group plans to introduce extended-range electric-vehicle powertrains starting in the first half of 2027 for both Hyundai and Genesis brands. The initial rollout will feature an EREV variant of the three-row Santa Fe SUV, which will be manufactured in the United States. An EREV system utilizes a smaller battery pack paired with an onboard internal-combustion engine that acts as a generator to recharge the battery as needed. The Santa Fe EREV will feature dual electric motors providing all-wheel drive, with a combined range exceeding 600 miles. Genesis will follow with an EREV version of its compact GV70 SUV, targeting a slightly longer combined range of 640 miles.
