Faith Groups Protest RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Madison Square Event
· World · The Hindu, India Today, Times of India
The Indian American Muslim Council and allied community organisations held a press conference in New York to protest against an upcoming event featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at Madison Square Garden. Held under the banner “No Platform for Hate,” the protest brought together representatives of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Dalit, and interfaith organisations. The organisers urged New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani not to allow Madison Square Garden to host the event, describing Mr. Bhagwat as a proponent of Hindu supremacist ideology. Brad Lander, who is running for the U.S. Congress, joined the protest and stated that there was no room for such ideology in the city. Representatives from Hindus for Human Rights and the Dalit Solidarity Forum also criticized Mr. Bhagwat during the conference.
Why it matters
