Fake Cancer Drugs Sold at 50% Discount as Bengaluru Probe Widens

A counterfeit medicine racket involving cancer drugs and critical ICU injections has come under investigation in Bengaluru after raids linked the supply chain to more than 90 hospitals and clinics across the city. A joint probe by the Bengaluru Police Special Investigation Team and the Drugs Control Department led to the arrest of pharmacy owner Veeresh Kumar Jain. Officials recovered a large quantity of suspected counterfeit medicines during a raid at Krupa Healthcare near Minerva Circle. Investigators suspect the network procured low-price drugs, repackaged expired medicines in fresh containers, and supplied them to medical shops and clinics at discounts of nearly 50 per cent. Police are currently examining bank transactions and purchase records to trace interstate links and identify all recipients.
