Fake IAS Officer in Bhopal Arrested After Viral Vidhan Sabha Vlog
· India · Indian Express, Hindustan Times
Bhopal police have arrested Tripti Singh Rajput, a 30-year-old woman who posed as an IAS officer in the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department for an extended period. Her cover was blown after a vlog claiming to be filmed outside the Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha was traced by police to a gallery inside the Anthropological Museum complex. Three FIRs have been registered against her in Ashoknagar and Bhopal for cheating and personation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with victims alleging she took Rs 3 lakh each promising government jobs. Her brother Sudhanshu Singh was also arrested on August 23 in Chanderi after police laid a trap using the job-seeking victims as bait.
Why it matters
The case exposes how aspirational job-seekers in Madhya Pradesh were defrauded and raises questions about how the accused maintained a fake bureaucratic identity for long enough to lure multiple victims. It underscores recurring vulnerabilities to impersonation scams targeting India's government job market.
