Users clicking the link were redirected to the Department of Justice website containing files related to Jeffrey Epstein. The Republican Party officially denounced the site as fake and directed supporters to their legitimate domain, GOPConvention.com. Democratic lawmakers have used the incident to highlight ongoing criticism regarding the handling of the Epstein files by the administration of President Donald Trump. The website previously featured a background image of the American Airlines Center, the venue for the scheduled two-day convention.
