Family Attempts Suicide in West Godavari District, Wife Rescued From Godavari River

A family of four attempted to end their lives in Yelamanchili Mandal of West Godavari district on Saturday morning. Namuburu Srinivas, 45, his wife Padmini, 42, and their two children, Eswar and Nithyasri, took the step due to financial problems according to police. Local fisherfolk spotted the family in the Godavari River while engaged in fishing and managed to rescue Padmini. Padmini was shifted to Eluru Government Hospital, where her health condition is reported out of danger. Fire department personnel, the State Disaster Response Force, and local police launched a search operation to trace the three missing family members.
