The family of Matthew Van Dyke, a US citizen arrested by the NIA in March, is calling for urgent diplomatic intervention due to concerns over his health and prison conditions in Delhi. Van Dyke was detained at the Kolkata airport and later charged with illegally crossing into Myanmar to train armed ethnic groups in drone warfare and weapons handling. His legal representatives stated that the Delhi Court denied requests for medical treatment at a private hospital, citing foreign government communications. The NGO founded by Van Dyke, Sons of Liberty International, reported that he has been suffering from a leg injury and declining eyesight while in custody. The External Affairs Ministry has not yet issued a response regarding the case.
