Father of CJP Protester Beaten to Death in Bankura

Sheikh Mohammad Mafik was beaten to death in West Bengal’s Bankura district following an attack on his family by unidentified assailants. The violence erupted after his son, Sheikh Abdul Hafiz, visited Karishunda Paschimpara Primary School to inspect educational conditions on August 13. Armed assailants entered the house at night, initially attacking Hafiz before severely beating Mafik with sticks, iron rods, and crowbars. Mafik was taken to a block health centre before being transferred to Burdwan Medical College, where he died during treatment. Police have registered a murder case following a complaint by Mafik’s wife, Hasina Begum, and arrested eight individuals in connection with the attack.
