Vijayapura police have registered an FIR against MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for allegedly creating false death certificates to remove voters from the electoral rolls. The complaint, filed by a local vendor named Abdul Razak Bagwan, alleges that the MLA falsely claimed Bagwan had died to strike his name off the list during the Special Intensive Revision exercise. The complainant further alleged that at least seven other individuals were falsely declared dead by the MLA as part of a broader conspiracy to delete names. Members of the Mata Kavalu Samiti presented several of these alleged victims at a press conference in Bengaluru on October 7. The investigation follows multiple reports of Form-7 fraud across Karnataka, prompting broader scrutiny from the Election Commission of India.
