First-Generation HomePod mini to Receive Siri AI Support Later This Year
· Technology · MacRumors, Indian Express
Apple is expanding Siri AI compatibility to the first-generation HomePod mini through a software update scheduled for later this year. The current S5-powered smart speaker will gain the features alongside updates to iOS 27.2. Meanwhile, the newly announced HomePod mini 2 features a faster S10 processor to handle AI requests. Apple stated that setting up Siri AI on the second-generation model requires a paired iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence support. However, once enabled, users without an Apple Intelligence-enabled device can still access broad world knowledge, natural conversations, and improved music discovery.
Why it matters
First-generation HomePod mini owners will gain access to advanced AI features without needing to purchase new hardware, extending the lifespan of their existing smart home devices.
