Five Baby Orangutans Rescued in Odisha's Balasore District

Forest officials in Odisha's Balasore district rescued five juvenile orangutans near Badapai village in the Bhograi area on Tuesday. The primates, which are native to Borneo and Sumatra, were discovered at approximately 6 am, prompting a large crowd of onlookers to gather. Balasore Divisional Forest Officer Pratik Prakash Indalkar confirmed that four of the five apes are healthy and currently under veterinary observation. Officials suspect the animals were brought into the state as part of an international wildlife-smuggling racket, as there is no natural corridor linking the region to their native habitats. The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau is now investigating the incident alongside local police to identify those responsible.
