Taiwanese prosecutors have indicted five people in New Taipei City for allegedly plotting to injure stand-up comedian Huang Yi-hao with a car after he mocked Chinese President Xi Jinping. Investigators state that local defendants were hired by a Chinese individual to track Mr Huang and break his limbs to halt his performances. Mr Huang was struck by a car while riding his scooter last month, sustaining a bruised pelvis. Two of the defendants have admitted their involvement in the planned assault. The incident follows a previous attack in May where individuals threw faeces and paint at a Taipei comedy club ahead of his show.
