A special POCSO court in Vadodara has sentenced five men to life imprisonment for the gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl committed during Navratri in October 2024. Additional District and Sessions Judge CM Pawar also imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on each of the convicts and ordered the government to pay ₹10 lakh as compensation to the survivor. The court described the crime as most heinous, noting that an attack occurring during a major festival dedicated to Goddess Amba could not be treated lightly. The convicts were identified as Mumtaz, Ajmal, Munna Banjara, Saif and Shahrukh.
