Captain Smit Machchhar of Flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv fought off an in-flight attack by his co-pilot, who attempted to crash the aircraft. Despite sustaining multiple stab wounds, Machchhar resisted the attacker, unlocked the sealed cockpit door, and raised an alarm. Relief pilots on board and the courage of passengers subsequently enabled a safe emergency landing at Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia. The attacker is identified as an Omani pilot, though his exact identity and motive remain undisclosed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the Indian pilot for preventing a mid-air disaster involving 174 passengers.
