Former Indian Ambassador Navdeep Suri has publicly raised concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Punjab after receiving a notice claiming his details did not match records from 2003. Mr. Suri, who served as India's High Commissioner to Australia and Ambassador to the UAE and Egypt, stated he submitted his Voter ID and Aadhaar card to the booth-level officer before receiving the discrepancy alert. The diplomat expressed frustration over the administrative hurdle, questioning the ease of the process for common citizens if he faced difficulty establishing his credentials. Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra clarified that Mr. Suri's name was never removed from the electoral roll and remained on the draft list published on August 13.
