The Patiala House Court in Delhi cleared former India batsman pathar Patel of all charges including forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy. The legal case dated back to the 2004 team's tour of the United Kingdom where Patel was accused of using a forged immigration stamp and engaging in dubious financial transactions. The court found no evidence that Patel owned or controlled the Ajwa Sports Club and noted his name was not in the initial FIR. Patel, a prominent domestic middle-order batter, scored over 9,000 first-class runs and captained Baroda to a Ranji Trophy title, though his international career remained limited.
