Former Wrestler Arrested in Delhi Opium Smuggling Case

Delhi Police have arrested Amit Sheoran, a 31-year-old former national-level wrestler, in connection with an alleged opium smuggling case. Sheoran had been a proclaimed offender since December 2023 and was wanted by Jharkhand Police for his alleged role in a drug-supply network. During interrogation, the Rohtak resident claimed that opium use was prevalent among wrestlers at prominent training centres in Delhi and Haryana to increase practice endurance. Police stated that a previously arrested supplier, Rajesh Nag, identified Sheoran as a primary receiver of drugs intended for athletes. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not confirmed the extent of drug use at the mentioned training facilities.
