Four friends from engineering and management backgrounds left their corporate careers to establish Planet Mushroom, a business that has grown to a Rs 15-crore turnover. Naveen Patwal and Amit Kumar Sharma co-founded the venture in 2006 after completing their engineering degrees in Faridabad and Delhi. They were later joined by Poonam Sharma, an IIT-Kharagpur graduate who left a banking career, and Sunny Gupta, an IIM-Calcutta alumnus who previously worked as a consultant in the US. The partners launched the business to maintain their childhood friendships while pursuing a shared entrepreneurial goal. The company now aims to integrate a variety of specialty mushrooms into the daily Indian diet.
