Four Killed in PoK Blast Near Line of Control

· India · Indian Express, LiveMint

An explosion in the Satwal-Naki area of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir killed four residents on Monday evening while they were reportedly laying water pipes. The blast, suspected to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device, occurred in Hajira tehsil opposite the Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch. Indian security forces have sounded an alert across the sector and increased vigilance along the Line of Control to prevent potential security breaches. In a separate incident, the Indian Army destroyed two rusted landmines discovered during track construction in the Mendhar sector on Monday.

Why it matters

The explosion and the subsequent discovery of landmines underscore the persistent security risks along the border, where unexploded ordnance and anti-infiltration systems remain a threat to both military and civilian movement.
