A small Piper PA-24 aircraft crashed into shallow waters in the Seldovia Slough on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, resulting in the deaths of all four adults on board. The plane was en route to the Seldovia airport after departing from Anchorage, located approximately 219 kilometres away. Alaska State Troopers recovered the bodies from the submerged wreckage once the tide receded. The victims' identities remain withheld pending notification of their next of kin. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the incident.
