France And UK Step Up Missile Support For Ukraine At European Leaders' Meeting
· World · CNBC, France 24
French President Emmanuel Macron, U.K. Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz are co-chairing a Coalition of the Willing meeting in Kyiv to discuss expanded support for Ukraine. The diplomatic talks coincide with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine's independence and follow a Russian drone strike on a crowded shopping center in Kryvyi Rih that killed at least 16 civilians and injured 128 people. France has committed additional interceptor missiles to defend Ukrainian airspace, while the U.K. has authorized defense contractor MBDA to release classified information on SCALP missile components to facilitate local assembly in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov condemned the U.K. move, accusing London of direct participation in the conflict and obstructing peace efforts.
