FSSAI Suspends Licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Over Poor Hygiene
· Business · Hindustan Times, LiveMint
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) suspended the licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd after finding serious non-compliances during an inspection. The company achieved a compliance score of only 30 per cent. FSSAI officials observed water stagnation, foul odour, filth, fungal growth on tomatoes, papaya, jaggery, and cashew nuts, as well as rotten capsicum and degraded cooking oils. Deficiencies in pest control were noted, including the presence of cockroaches and house flies. The regulator destroyed 74 kg/litres of non-compliant food articles and directed the company to cease all food business activities with immediate effect.
Why it matters
Consumers who purchase food from Seven Seas Hospitality establishments are at risk of consuming unsafe food due to poor hygiene and storage practices. The suspension aims to prevent potential foodborne illnesses and enforce stricter compliance with food safety standards.
