FSSAI Takes Three Enforcement Actions Against Nestle India Over Formula Claims

FSSAI has opened three separate adjudication cases against Nestle India over promotional claims on its infant formulas and a nutrient shortfall in a follow-up product. The authority flagged claims of "5 HMOs" and "Whey Protein" on NAN Excella Pro Stage 1 and a "easy to digest" whey protein claim on Lactogen Pro 1. A separate sample of Nestle's follow-up formula tested below the prescribed biotin threshold twice after a referral laboratory reconfirmed the shortfall. Nestle disputes the findings and says its labels were vetted by the regulator's own expert committee and are supported by scientific literature. No enforcement penalty has been announced yet.
