The notes were written over 23 months for Anand T. Hingorani, Gandhi’s confidant and publisher, and are part of Hingorani’s archive that includes photographs and personal objects. Lot 80 fetched the highest price of the auction, breaking the previous record for an Indian historical document. Saffronart co‑founder Dinesh Vazirani said the collection offers a rare glimpse into how Gandhi lived his principles privately.
