The Ganges Grandmasters secured a crushing 16-1 victory over the Mumba Masters on Day 7 of the Global Chess League Season 4 in Bengaluru. World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen defeated Candidates 2026 winner Javokhir Sindarov and subsequently handed his Player of the Match trophy to teammate Vidit Gujrathi, who defeated Daniil Dubov in a 96-move marathon. The win places Ganges at the top of the standings with 88 game points, level on match points with defending champions APL Pipers. Both top teams need a win in their final round-robin matches on Saturday to secure a spot in the title clash.
