Former England off-spinner Gareth Batty is in advanced talks to join Chennai Super Kings as their new batting coach for IPL 2027. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan confirmed that discussions are underway with an official announcement expected within days. The 49-year-old currently serves as head coach of Surrey in the County Championship, where he guided the team to three consecutive titles. Batty shares a strong working rapport with newly appointed CSK head coach Zaheer Khan from their playing days at Worcestershire. The franchise has also appointed former India pacer Mohit Sharma as bowling coach following a disappointing run that included a bottom-place finish in 2025.
