Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi has accused AIUDF chief Mohammed Badruddin Ajmal of acting as a political emergency service for Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Speaking at a rally in Dhing, Gogoi alleged a secret alliance between the BJP and AIUDF to split minority votes in the upcoming Nagaon parliamentary by-election. The bypoll, scheduled for October 6, was necessitated after incumbent MP Pradyut Bordoloi resigned from Congress to join the BJP. Gogoi claimed that Ajmal entered the race specifically to counter the Congress candidate, Sibamoni Bora, after realizing the strength of her campaign. The contest is set to be a three-way race between Congress, the BJP, and the AIUDF.
