Gemini Notebook adds voice recorder but fails offline and offline deletion
· Technology · Android Authority, Gadgets360
Google has rolled out a voice recorder feature in Gemini Notebook for Android and iOS, allowing users to seamlessly add audio to their notebooks. Unlike the Pixel Recorder app, this feature is almost useless when offline, as recordings get stuck in an uploading loop and require a server connection for transcription or playback. Users cannot long-press to delete files currently in the uploading state, with deletion attempts also appearing stuck. The feature is broadly available, not limited to the US, and accessible via the microphone icon in the Sources tab or on the Gemini Notebook homepage.
Why it matters
Gemini Notebook users lose core recorder functionality when offline, forcing reliance on Google's servers for basic audio transcription and listening, unlike the Pixel Recorder app which works fully offline. The inability to delete recordings trapped in an uploading loop also disrupts user workflow and file management.
