Young candidates in their early twenties have emerged victorious across party lines in the recent Rajasthan civic body elections. In the state capital, 21-year-old Congress candidate Faiz Hasan won ward 71 of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation by securing 5,426 votes, defeating independent candidate Mohammad Salim. Another 21-year-old, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Neha Sharma, won ward 6 in Alwar's Thanagazi municipality by a margin of 101 votes. Ms. Sharma previously worked as a journalist for nearly four years before entering electoral politics. Additionally, 22-year-old Suman Bhati secured a victory from ward 72 in Jaipur, highlighting the growing political participation of Gen Z in local governance.
