Russell dominated the early stages of the race while Verstappen fought back from eighth on the grid. Two safety car periods in quick succession compressed the field, setting up an 11-lap sprint to the finish. Russell managed to cross the line just under 0.2 seconds ahead of Verstappen despite experiencing an energy deployment issue.
