Gloucestershire Rebrands As Bristol For T20 Blast From 2027

· Sports · BBC Sport, ESPNCricinfo

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club will rebrand as Bristol starting in the 2027 T20 Blast season to address declining ticket revenue. The club, which has competed since 1870 under the Gloucestershire name, won the T20 Blast for the first time in 2024 by defeating Somerset at Edgbaston. Ticket sales from the T20 competition contribute 20% of the club's revenue and saw a 21% drop in 2026 compared to 2025. Neil Priscott, the club's chief executive, and Jenny Hall, head of audience development, presented the rebranding strategy to members in Bristol and Cheltenham. Fixtures for the 2027 season will be released on 24 November with new branding expected simultaneously.

Why it matters

The rebranding aims to attract a new audience to reverse falling T20 revenue, directly impacting Gloucestershire's financial sustainability and long-term competitiveness in English domestic cricket.
