Google DeepMind Releases AlphaGenome Atlas Mapping 9 Billion DNA Mutations

Google DeepMind has released the AlphaGenome Atlas, a comprehensive database predicting the biological consequences of all 9 billion possible single-letter mutations in the human genome. This precomputed catalogue identifies how DNA base substitutions affect the machinery that regulates gene expression. Previously, researchers were required to test variants individually in laboratories, a process that was time-consuming and inefficient. The database is now available for non-commercial academic use, with commercial licensing through Google Cloud expected to follow. A paper detailing the creation of the Atlas has been published on the bioRxiv repository.
