Google Launches Gemini 3.8 Flash With Cybersecurity Focus
· Technology · Android Authority, VentureBeat
Google has launched Gemini 3.8 Flash, its third Flash model released in six weeks, featuring dedicated variants for agentic workflows and cybersecurity. The standard model serves as a workhorse for complex tasks, while Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber provides specialized vulnerability detection and automated patching capabilities. The models are available to developers and subscribers through the Gemini app, though access to the cyber variant is restricted to Google's Fairwind Program. According to company benchmarks, Gemini 3.8 Flash scores 73.7% on the DeepSWE v1.1 benchmark for solving complex engineering problems, outperforming several larger frontier models. Google attributes these performance gains to additional reasoning steps executed during complex tasks, which may occasionally require higher token usage.
Why it matters
Developers and enterprise users building automated workflows gain access to faster, more cost-effective AI agents capable of outperforming larger frontier models on complex engineering benchmarks.
